Avatamsaka tree
Below, we continue to introduce the Perfection Stage of the “Five Golden Dharma of Niguma”. The Perfection Stage includes five main parts. Guru illustratively compared it to an Avatamsaka tree.
Briefly speaking:
First part: the Profound Six Dharma of Niguma, which is the root of the Avatamsaka tree, including:
〈1〉 Warm happy navel fire self-burning (mystic heat meditation dharma);
〈2〉 Greed and anger of illusory body self-solved(Illusory body meditation dharma);
〈3〉 Confusion in dream realm self-purified(Dream visualization meditation dharma);
〈4〉 bright self-awakening from foolishness and dullness (Bright meditation dharma);
〈5〉 Reborn in pureland self-enlightenment without meditation (Moving consciousness meditation dharma);
〈6〉 Bardo Buddha reward body (Achieving Buddha in Bardo meditation dharma);
Second part: the Bright Great Seal, which is the stem of Avatamsaka tree:
Third part: the Three Branch Dharma, which is like the branches of the Avatamsaka tree, including three parts:〈1〉Guru dharma;〈2〉Yidam dharma;〈3〉Illusory dharma;
Fourth part: White and Red Dakini meditation dharma, which is like the flower of the Avatamsaka tree;
Fifth part: Body and heart undying and unperishing meditation dharma, which is like the seed of the Avatamsaka tree;
As introduced by Jianggong Guru, in the 13th century C.E., the lineage guru of the “Five Golden Dharma of Niguma”, Jianchenben, saw Niguma and Dakini Sukhasiddhi in person after he achieved. The two dakini suggested that he annotate in detail what was not very clear in the old dharma book. From then on, two dharma books (concise and annotated respectively) appeared in the “Five Golden Dharma of Niguma”, which then created the new and old lineages. Meditation according to the old book is called the Old Lineage, and meditation according to the new book is called the New Lineage, and these two lineages merge into one in the place of Jianggong Guru. At the same time, the Mandarin translation of the ritual of the Perfection Stage of the “Five Golden Dharma of Niguma”, transmitted by Jianggong Guru, also contains 18 key teachings, which are respectively:
