The “Great Man” appearance of the Five Great Vajra

Besides the individual characteristics of the Five Great Vajra, there is also one common characteristic: they all have the 32 appearances and 80 kinds of good. In ancient India, these were not uniquely processed by Buddha, and they were called the “Great Man” appearance.

There are very detailed records concerning the 32 appearances and 80 kinds of good in many books, but they are scattered and not easy to remember. Although it is known that all Vajra have all the appearances and goods of Buddha, but it is not known how, so during visualization one cannot go into detail. When I first meditated on the Creation Stage, to help my visualization, I made a Song of Solemnity and record it here to aid readers’ understanding:

Fortune and wisdom unlimited top treasure bun,

Brahmā sound profound golden eyes.

Lashes like the cow king eyebrows with white hair,

Tongue three thousand wide, cheeks like a lion’s.

Saliva in the pharynx saliva obtains superior taste,

Teeth white, straight and close, pure like jade.

Body like male lion oxter full, shoulder good perfect 40 tooth.

Fingers fine and long and soft as ghee, four palms silk net, hands passing knee.

Body hair stand upwards pores shine black light, heel high perfect thigh like deer.

Heel embonpoint testis hidden like horse, feel flat with a thousand spokes.

Golden body perfect light sixteen feet, with seven perfections soft smooth skin,

Eyebrow like crescent moon, crown unseen,

hair whorls rotate clockwise like black beads

Nose does not show holes ears droop wide, treasure hair long beautiful no disgust

Appearance perfect upright no disturbing, lips like Pinpo profound language.

Face wide superior like pure moon. Head madana and red tongue.

Sound exhibits ample communication competency.

Fragrance fills all pores of the body.

No increase or decrease with the sound of living beings

With mind of living beings peaceful happy language.

With language edify replying to sentient beings.

According to Yuan saying dharma no obsessed strategy.

Living being happy face wide big. Movement like swan king, white sharp teeth.

Finger prints hidden, covered arteries and veins do not show,

Thin lenitive golden essential fingers.

Supple four limbs shine light ten feet. Arm leg perfect with moral appearance.

Palm lines bright straight long without interruption, arm leg perfect together as will

Up stop like elephant, bones like hook, body fingers round slender gentle not bent.

Navel deep round, good hair rotating right, body strong with great strength,

Feet suspended four inches above ground show prints,

Hair and pores smooth coloured, navel not out,

Knee firm round, good body pure clear, body smooth, feet full, ankle not showing

Powerfully commanding all, unmovabale, appearance not winding

Evil-mind living beings see and become happy,

Appearance like elephant king and also like lion.

Have death door appearance, body not leaning,

Equally look living beings without looking down upon.

Body big body wide body hold weight, Buddha light shines no dark road.

32, 80 splendours in appearance, living being look up hard to estimate.

The Five Great Vajra all have the Great Man Appearance. According traditional Indian saying, people with the Great Man Appearance can be wheel-rotating holy king at home, and achieve the highest realization if they take holy orders.
