Mahamaya

Mahamaya Vajra is one of yidam of the mother tantra of Anuttara Yoga. What Master Marpa entreated from Master Gugureba in the Huge Poisonous Sea of southern India was the Mahamaya dharma. In the Five Golden Dharma of Niguma, it is seen as the integrative representative and reflection of the language of all Buddha of past, present and future.

In the visualization of the creation stage of the Five Golden Dharma of Niguma, meditators visualize Mahamaya Vajra in the centre of the throat chakra. There are 16 petals in the throat chakra, the east (front), west (back), south (right) and north (left) points each contain a slightly smaller Mahamaya Vajra and its mandala, all facing the central chief yidam. There are 12 treasure bottles and Tuoba in the other 12 petals. In the treasure bottles are the five amrita, and the Tuoba above treasure bottles have the Five Meat inside. Mahamaya is the integrative representative of the language of all Buddha. Visualize the Buddha father having a blue body, yellow hair rising upwards. A bow and arrow are held in two hands, embracing the Buddha mother. The right leg is bent a little; the left leg stands straight, stepping on the corpse on the sun wheel of the lotus stage. The Buddha mother has a red body, naked, also holding a bow and arrow in her hands, embracing Buddha father around neck. Her two legs encircle the Buddha father’s waist, dual practicing with the Buddha father. Both the Buddha father and Buddha mother wear all kinds of splendours such as bone decorations.

The bow and arrow in the hands of Mahamaya Vajra represent wisdom, being able to directly point at false phenomena and pierce through their nature.
