A Brief History of The Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism states

“To turn the dream state into path, the two essences of reciting in daytime and teaching forcing at night should first be recalled. The obstruction of not recalling is emptiness unlimited, touch unlimited, awakening unlimited and jealousy unlimited, four kinds in total. Rectifying teachings are used to eliminate these, therefore, recognizing that the dream is true is to recall dream. From then on, like the dream state, all dharma show up completely with empty self nature. Therefore the combining of the two truths is felt. Having dharma and not detaching from dharma nature, the strong image of Yuan arising etc are dream meditation at the cause level. The dream state being able to arise as the illusory body, Buddha’s image or the great seal etc is dream meditation at the perfection level. After middle recalling, the changing sky and the four great elements are studied. This is to meditate illusory through the penetration of knowing that only that of no substance exists. After grasping samada in and beyond the world, the final step is to combine the dream state with brightness. Using the teaching that exclusively meditates verity, combine the illusory appearance of the day with the dream state at night, and meditate the dream state arising as the illusory body. Merge this illusory body to Suimie and Zhengchi’s brightness and change. Especially when analogy and the dream state at night are combined, one must meditate by contemplating appearance at daytime as not having substance. Using this key, rule that the dying phenomena is dream, meditate the narrow path of bardo as early break. No matter how often one sees oneself die, float in bardo or combine to life, it must be taken as the real death, bardo and combining to life, which appear to be real but are actually without substance. Determine that they have no self nature.”

Niguma Vajra Hymn states

“Whosoever wants to give up the wrong and obsessed mind,

 Concentrated with one heart on what appears in dreams,

Meditating on illusory confusions clear themselves,

Merits arise of themselves and increase day and night.”
