Guhyasamaja1

Guhyasamaja (Secret Collection Vajra) is one of the yidam in the father tantra of Anuttara Yoga. Its dharma door is taken as the root of Vajrayana teaching. “Secret collection” means “explaining body, word and thought, the three secrets, all Buddha of past, present and future let it get together as collection.” (Collection Secret Later Tantra). Guhyasamaja Root Tantra is honoured as the king of father tantra. In the Five Golden Dharma of Niguma, Guhyasamaja is looked at as the collective representative and reflection of the body of all Buddha of past, present and future.

There are many sayings about the origin of Guhyasamaja teaching. The Tibetan saying is that when Buddha lived in the world, some of his shravaka disciples often used dharma clothes as wings, flying in the sky, and this was seen by the Free Wisdom King of Wuzhangna Country in western India. After the king confirmed that they were really the disciples of Buddha, respect arose from his heart, and he faced east, got down his knees and worshipped. Buddha knew his meaning, and came to transmit discipline and give empowerment, also preaching the Guhyasamaja Root Tantra and the Guhyasamaja Notes. The Free Wisdom King had faith, received, and acted according to instruction, using coloured glaze powder to record on gold coloured paper. Later, he and his relatives all attained achievements, flying in sky. Afterwards, the country was flooded with water, and became the residence of dragons. Vajrapani transmitted to them the Guhyasamaja teaching, and the dragons achieved into Vajra daka and Vajrayogini. Later on, the Guru of Salehe, King Posujiabo of Outizhena country in south India, gave up the throne and received the true transmission in Wuzhangna, and achieved through hard meditation. Later, Nagarjuna Buddhi received the lineage of Guhyasamaja teaching from Salehe. From then on, Guhyasamaja teaching developed into many lineages. Here we will not write too much.

Guhyasamaja Vajra has many appearances, like orange red Guhyasamaja Gentle Vajra and Blue Guhyasamaja Unmovable Vajra. The dharma items held in his hands have corresponding changes. This venerable sits peacefully on the lotus sun and moon wheel in the vajra cross-legged position, with three heads, six arms and three eyes, and Five Buddha Crowns on his heads. The two middle hands hold a vajra in the right and a vajra bell in the left. The upper right hand holds a dharma wheel and the lower holds a lotus. The upper left hand holds Mani treasure and the lower holds a sword. The Vajra Buddha mother has a blue body, also with three heads and six arms. The dharma items held in her hands are the same as those of the venerable Buddha, indicating the integration of the five sections of great dharma. The Buddha father and Buddha mother stay peacefully on the lotus sun and moon wheel in the “emptiness and joy are indifferentiable” dual-practice appearance.
